Pirn House a welcome stop for first class food – For visitors to the Scottish Borders looking for a first class food stop set your satnav for Pirn House coffee shop.

It’s a diversion (look out for the signs just off the A68 before St Boswells) that won’t disappoint.

With a reputation for exceptional home baking and mouth watering meals, the Pirn House coffee shop and eatery ranks among the best in the Borders.

Its menu great for breakfast but just as appealing for brunch or lunch is a showcase for the finest local produce and all food is freshly prepared on the premises by Avril Harris and her staff.

Choose from home baked cakes and scones, hot filled rolls, soups, sandwiches made with fresh baked multigrain bread and an excellent selection of main meals.

And for afters…..step next door into Pirn House Interiors for a cornucopia of high quality bespoke interior design and gifts that include clocks, lamps, mirrors and beautiful soft furnishings.

Avril also handles commissions for upholstery, curtain making and working with fabrics. Not surprisingly, tartans feature strongly in the range of work carried out at Pirn House.

Pirn House was established six years ago by Avril, whose interior design skills and curtain making services are in demand throughout the UK. “Originally we had a small cafe area for clients and visitors to the Interior Design section.

“It became so popular we decided to expand and set up a dedicated eatery and now the sides of the business complement each other wonderfully. The coffee shop has built its reputation on fine food, made on the premises and using the best local produce available in the Borders.

“There’s always a great buzz about the place and visitors are assured a warm welcome,” said Avril.

Pirn House Coffee Shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm You’ll find it at 5 West End Units, Charlesfield, St Boswells, TD6 0HH
